Letter 12. World Peace Please

“Dear Tomorrow, may you know the strength of forgiveness and the freedom of peace. If you find yourself hurt, let love be your guide. Build a world where forgiveness and kindness blossom in every heart. This is my dream, my legacy for you.”

“Dear Tomorrow,

Sometimes it feels like peace is a distant dream. The world has always been full of conflicts—some out in the open, some hidden within families, between friends, or even within ourselves. But to truly know peace, we have to find a way to forgive, to let go of the anger we hold in our hearts. And this, as I know, isn’t easy.

Peace doesn’t mean loving everyone; it means choosing to walk away from hate, choosing to be gentle with those who hurt us. Even Ollie the Cat understands this. He says, “So I have to love that dog next door?” and I tell him, “No, Ollie, you don’t have to love him. Just don’t let him steal your Peace.”

Peace certainly doesn’t mean an awkward silence or the idea that everything will be rose scented and sprinkled with some golden stardust glitter, as in an ice cream in rainbow colours, although this could certainly be a kinder way to wish for peace, handing out ice creams all over the world, then by hanging out rainbow coloured flags. We can’t force others to change, but we can choose how we live. May you, and the world you live in, find a way to forgive, to let go of resentment, and to build peace—one gentle act at a time.

With love and patience,
Leora”
